Le Cellier de La Crau: wine cooperative since 1912
The cooperative welcomed its first grape harvests in 1913 and has gone from strength to strength. After merging with the La Farlède and Solliès-Pont cooperatives, it now produces around 17,000 hl of wine, with 150 members and 300 hectares of vineyards, including 180 hectares classified as AOP Côtes de Provence and 120 hectares as I G P vin de pays du var.
The wine cooperative offers direct sales of Pays de Var and AOP Côtes de Provence wines.
La Crau is a vast vine-growing and market-gardening plain surrounded by the primary Hyères heights to the south, Mont Fenouillet, and the secondary limestone heights to the north, Mont Coudon.
The “Maurettes” separate the communes of Hyères and La Crau, and the remains of the past bear witness to the first settlers on the La Crau territory.
Man has always known how to make the most of this rich, fertile valley, with its coarse alluvial soil, 70% of which is planted with vines, as well as market gardening, horticulture and reed farming.
